A day after an incident of a 14-year-old boy in West Bengal's Maheshtala being hung upside down and given electric shocks after being accused of stealing a mobile phone came to light, Shahenshah, the main accused in the case, has been arrested in Mumbai, police said on Thursday. At the same time, the minor remains missing.

Police sources told India Today that Shahenshah had been absconding since he tortured the 14-year-old boy. However, after absconding, Shahenshah was arrested in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the victim's family is worried about him, his whereabouts and his present condition. The police have also launched an extensive search operation for the boy and will also start investigating and questioning people familiar with the incident, they added.

The boy's family claims that Shahenshah used to take minors to make them work for not so attractive compensation.

The matter came to light when a disturbing video of the incident went viral online, the authenticity of which could not be verified.

Two people, identified as Mustafa Kamal and Touhid Alam — both closely associated with Shahenshah, the factory owner, had already been arrested. However, Shahenshah had been absconding.

The factory has since been shut down, and the police are interrogating the arrested individuals to take their investigation further.

The incident has triggered outrage, and police say they are taking all necessary steps to bring those responsible to justice.
