Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday held an all-party meeting in Chennai opposing the Union government’s delimitation plan. Stalin pointed out that if the delimitation is implemented as per the population census, it would weaken Tamil Nadu's political influence.
He called for the current delimitation framework to remain unchanged for the next 30 years to ensure fairness for states that have effectively controlled population growth. On the other hand, the Centre is trying to assure that the number of Parliamentary constituencies will not change.
