During the press briefing on Operation Sindoor, the government said that Pakistan used high-speed missile to target Punjab airbase. This comes amid Pakistan's continuous attacks against India using drones and missiles along Western border towns of India.
Four explosions occurred in Chichara village, Gurdaspur, creating a 15-foot deep and 30-35 feet wide crater. The incident, suspected to be a drone attack, damaged nearby structures, including an electric transformer. Similar drone attacks have been reported in other Punjab districts including Amritsar, Tarantaran, Ferozepur, and Pathankot. The military has collected debris from the site for investigation.
The report focusses on Pakistan's media blackout regarding military damages. A directive from the general headquarters in Rawalpindi prohibits broadcasting footage of damages suffered by the Pakistani military. The situation is compared to the information restrictions during December 1971. Four Pakistani airbases have reportedly been damaged, including the Rahim Yar Khan airbase. The Rawalpindi airbase, used for VIP flights, has also been affected, potentially impacting the mobility of key officials.
