Wipro to invest a billion dollars in AI over next three years: Rishad Premji

Speaking to India Today TV on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Rishad Premji, Executive Chairperson of Wipro, revealed the company's plans to invest a billion dollars in artificial intelligence (AI) over the next three years. According to Premji, their approach is not focused on acquiring companies, but rather on infusing AI pervasively into the organisation's structure and processes. Wipro is keen on enhancing and augmenting productivity and opportunities through generative AI. 

Rishad Premji shed light on initiatives taken by Wipro to inculcate an AI-driven mindset into their workforce and its result on the efficiency of their operations. However, he also addressed concerns of potential job losses due to AI implementation, attributing recent layoffs in the tech sector to a tough economic climate rather than generative AI.
